Why Did Jesus Speak to the People in Parables

How can one see, but do not see or hear and do not hear? Is it possible? Is this an oxymoron? According to Jesus, in the scripture below it is possible. We live in a world of illusion, deception and distraction whereas millions of souls have not rediscovered their authentic spiritual self. Therefore, these souls do not seek to partake in the manna from heaven or spiritual nutrition that is necessary for spiritual growth and development. They identify their being as the physical body without any acknowledgement of the spiritual body. For this reason they are malnourished and have eyes and do not see and ears and do not hear.  

"Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.This is why I speak to them in parables: Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand." [Matthew 13: 12-13] 

God created man with two bodies and two sets of eyes and ears. Humans obviously have a physical body with eyes and ears and they have a not so obvious spiritual body within the body with spiritual eyes and ears. If one is not spiritually growing, their spiritual eyes and ears will not be developed enough to see and hear spiritual truth. They will only identify with a form-based perception of reality which is deceiving. 

As one chooses the path of spiritual growth, his spiritual eyes and ears begin to open up and he begins to hear the voice of God clearer. He or she is given wisdom to hear, see and understand things other unenlightened souls cannot hear, see and understand. This is one of the secrets and mysteries of God that is given when one is on the path of seeking the truth.  

Jesus knew that the people were still at the human level of understanding, therefore, he spoke to them in parable in order for them to understand what he was saying. It was not to be taken literally, but these were examples and analogies that they could relate to – to understand the spiritual meaning of what he was saying. Let it be known that the bible is not to be always taken literally and many times must be spiritually discerned.  

Because of our human body, many cannot shake the fact that our true identity is not human and we are not the body. We base things on what we see and we perceive this to be the truth. We do not realize that our identity with the body blinds and deafens us to the spiritual truth. Therefore, our perception of reality is skewed and misleading. Furthermore, if you are spiritually blind you will not be able to discern the deception and distraction of the world. 

When a person is at a low level of understanding based on the physical senses, their minds cannot comprehend higher levels of wisdom. Therefore, Jesus knew this and used something that they could relate to – to explain to them what he meant. Even though the parable about sowing the seed was not about sowing actual seeds, the people were able to discern the spiritual message from it. Whereas, if he had not used the parables, they would not have understood because he was speaking of a dimension beyond the physical and material. 

However, the Disciples were at a higher dimension of understanding beyond the physical senses. Their minds and spirit of discernment was open and the Holy Spirit was revealing the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven in which Jesus was speaking to them. 

Therefore, because many religious people resist spiritual transformation, they are still caught up in only hearing with their physical. They cannot hear with their spiritual ear and they miss the metaphysical message of Jesus. Without spiritual discernment, they cannot clearly hear the Holy Spirit or God guidance on how to apply the message for the full life enrichment that it is intended for. 

Your spiritual ears and eyes will only open up fully to the mysteries and secrets of God and life when you partake of spiritually nutritious information. You must be dedicated to growing and developing in spiritual understanding. You can accomplish this by going within the kingdom of God via meditation and to close the world out and merge with higher consciousness so you can see and hear the truth through the eyes and ears of God.  

So, if you do not hear or see what I am saying, that is an indication that your spiritual eyes and ears are closed and undeveloped. If you do hear and see what I am saying, then that is an indication that your spirit of discernment has opened up and you are in tune with your spiritual body and higher wisdom from the heavens.
